Peter Bower, PhD., Tissue Bank Director Dr. Peter Bower has experience in both scientific and legislative affairs and has worked with sperm banking worldwide for over a decade. His expertise has been instrumental in founding the European Sperm Bank and in our success in Europe and the USA. Dr. Bower earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Washington.

Susanne Timshel, M.D. Geneticist Dr. Susanne Timshel is instrumental to our success. After obtaining a medical degree from Copenhagen University, she continued specialized training in genetics through the John F. Kennedy Institute. After an illustrious career of clinical genetic consulting, Dr. Timshell currently serves as the head of the Genetic Counselling Clinic within the Kennedy Center. Her background allows for a very thorough review of every donor’s detailed family medical history. Approval of each donor’s enrolment in the program by Dr. Timshell ensures the highest degree of safety when considering a donor’s genetic background. Jeff Olliffe, M.D. Medical Director Dr. Jeff Olliffe conducts the initial and follow-up exams, and works with our geneticist to approve the donors into our program. He is a Member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Washington State Medical Society, and the King
County Medical Society. Dr. Olliffe affiliates with the Swedish Medical system and is a precept/instructor at the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine. He has a strong interest in bringing fertility options to those who are not biologically
able to be fertile.

Steven Mardis, Social Worker/Donor Counselor Steven provides initial and follow up counseling services to donors who participate in the ESB-USA program. He specializes in providing counseling and educational information for our international clients, to ensure donors are informed and aware of the differing guidelines/regulations inherent within the international community. In addition to his ESB-USA activities, Steven currently holds the position of Regional Operations Director for Outreach Services and is an active member of the NASW, AASW, FSA, and ANZICA.

Angelo Allard, General Supervisor
Angelo works closely with the Medical Directors and manages lab operations. His responsibilities include monitoring donors as they move through the application process and ensuring the quality of both applicants and their specimens. Bringing three years of clinical research experience from the University of Washington, Angelo is a key member to the ESB-USA team. His experience with regulated quality control, database management and specimen processing enhances the diverse skill set of our company.

David Weston, Ph.D., Technical Supervisor
Dr. David Weston provides technical overview of laboratory operations and is committed to keeping quality and technology at ESB-USA up to world class standards. David brings his extensive background in infectious disease research at the University of Washington and ten years in the biotech industry, giving him broad perspective into the science and quality assurance at ESB-USA.

Kristy Porter, Biological Analyst
Kristy has over a years’ experience with a clinical research lab with the University of Washington, as well as five years experience from Johns Hopkins University Bayview Immunology Lab. Her experience with quality controls, multiple sample analyses, and cell tissue culturing is an important asset to the lab.

Stephanie Street, Client Services
Stephanie works both in the laboratory and on our Client Services team. She previously worked in a Pharmacology and Toxicology lab at the University of Arizona where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Her strengths in customer relations and microscopy make her an excellent asset to the ESB-USA team!

Alan Dowden, Biological Analyst
Alan is an essential member of the ESB-USA team, bringing with him 3 years of experience in Engineering, Quality Control, and Customer Service. He obtained undergraduate studies in Biology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics. Alan’s diverse background has been a great addition to our staff.

Claire Johnson, Biological Analyst
Claire completed her undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry at Whitman College, where she developed a passion for learning and applying the newest scientific techniques. Her research on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome while abroad in New Zealand helped her to develop meticulous data collection and microscopy skills. Claire’s experience in quality control, microscopy, and customer service make her an excellent addition to the team.

Rachael Nkeiruka Banda, Donor Coordinator
Rachael is our newest member to the ESB-USA team. She is the main contact with donors; scheduling exams and answering any inquires. She graduated from the University Washington with a Bachelor in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology. She brings with her experience in the Bio-Pharmaceutical industry and exceptional customer service relations.

Sarah completed her undergraduate studies in Microbiology at the University of Washington where she gathered a thorough education in laboratory sciences. She also has training as a clinical microbiologist where she furthered her skills in microscopy and customer relations. Her passion for helping people is her drive within the healthcare industry, making her an asset to the ESB-USA team.

Manny Colón, Operations Assistant
Manny is a new addition who works directly under our General Supervisor, assisting with operations and media analysis. Having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, he is also a regular contributor to our online blog, establishing a greater media presence for ESB-USA.
